Museum of Contemporary Art, 21 November, 2015 through 5 June, 2016

Contro will be featured in Surrealism: The Conjured Life at the Museum of Contemporary Art, November 21, 2015 thru June 5, 2016. Organized by curator Lynne Warren, the show presents more than 100 paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs that demonstrate the deep currents that Surrealism sent through the International art world, and especially Chicago, since its emergence in the first half of the 20th century.

Scorza, 1611 W. Division, Chicago

Commissioned by Intelligentsia Coffee, and unveiled in June, Scorza is a 92' x 27' artwork I created for a tower on a building designed by Wheeler Kearns Architects at 1611 W. Division that houses the company's newest store.

Scorza has been extended through June of 2016.

Tempus Fugit, American Philosophical Society Museum

Tempus Fugit, Contro's solo exhibition at the renowned American Philosophical Society Museum in Philadelphia opened on April 13, 2012 and will continue through December.

APS, the oldest learned society in the US, was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1743 for the purpose of "promoting useful knowledge." Today, APS promotes interdisciplinary scholarship in history, art, and science. Contro will be the first artist in the museum's history to create a site-specific exhibition of her work alongside objects curated from the museum and library's collections.

The Art Institute of Chicago acquires print series

A-ZYM, Contro's folio of 27 prints inspired by a 1910 Britannica Encyclopedia, was recently purchased for the Art Institute of Chicago's permanent collection.

CAPP Grant

Contro was awarded a 2011 CAPP grant to support the development of work for her Cultural Center exhibition.

Italian Cultural Institute, 4 June through 16 September 2011

Contro will be featured in "A Sense of Place," Italian Cultural Institute, Chicago.
Chicago is one of the Italian cultural institutes from around the world chosen by art critic Vittorio Sgarbi to be included in the Italian Pavilion in the World at this year's Venice Biennale. A film created by artist Marco Ferrari representing the 7 artists in "A Sense of Place" will be on view in the Italian Pavilion at the 2011 Venice Biennale June 4 through November 27, 2011.

Prints from A-ZYM, the encyclopedia series, will be featured in The Centennial Celebration: New Acquisitions from 2001-2011 at the New York Public Library,
476 5th Avenue, this spring.
